　　David：What is China’s pharmaceutical industry like? 中國的醫(yī)藥業(yè)怎么樣?

　　You：In the past fifty years, China’s pharmaceutical industry has grown fromnothing into a booming industry. When the PRC

　　was established in 1949, China’s basic pharmaceutical industries were veryweak. 在過去的50年里，中國的醫(yī)藥業(yè)實現(xiàn)了從低潮到繁

　　榮的轉變。盡管1949年建國時，中國的醫(yī)藥業(yè)還都十分薄弱。

　　David：The entire pharmaceutical industry? 你是在說整個醫(yī)藥行業(yè)嗎?

　　You：對。50年代時，醫(yī)藥業(yè)不大景氣。

　　You：Yes, and now China has achieved an important position in the worldmarket as a supplier of raw materials for

　　You：I mean that many multi national companies depend on China for rawmaterials, and China has cornered about 30% of the

　　market share for pharmaceutical chemicals.中國是很多跨國公司的原料供應地，而且它的化學藥品在世界市場上的份額達30%之多。

　　David：It seems like in the past 50 years China’s pharmaceutical market hasopened to the world. 好像中國的醫(yī)藥市場在過去的50

　　年里一直都是開放的，是嗎?

　　You：Not exactly. In the first thirty years, China’s economy was not open toWestern countries. But since the 1980’s, in the

　　last twenty years, China’s international trade has taken off.是這樣的。最初的30年里，步伐比較緩慢;改革開放近20年以來，發(fā)展越來越快。
