Duanwu Festival is a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Double Fifth.[citation needed] It has since been celebrated, in various ways, in other parts of East Asia as well. In the West, its commonly known as Dragon Boat Festival.

The exact origins of Duan Wu are unclear, but one traditional view holds that the festival memorializes the Chinese poet Qu Yuan (c. 340 BC-278 BC) of the Warring States Period. He committed suicide by drowning himself in a river because he was disgusted by the corruption of the Chu government. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fish so they would not eat Qus body. They also sat on long, narrow paddle boats called dragon boats, and tried to scare the fish away by the thundering sound of drums aboard the boat and the fierce looking carved dragon head on the boats prow.

In the early years of the Chinese Republic, Duan Wu was also celebrated as "Poets Day," due to Qu Yuans status as Chinas first poet of personal renown.

Today, people eat bamboo-wrapped steamed glutinous rice dumplings called zongzi (the food originally intended to feed the fish) and race dragon boats in memory of Qus dramatic death.

Fifth lunar calendar in May for the ‘Dragon Boat Festival‘, ‘Dragon Boat Festival‘ entitled ‘terminal five‘, are the beginning of client meaning ‘five‘ and ‘a(chǎn)fternoon‘ mutual GM. Dragon Boat Festival is an ancient holiday in China, one of which has a story.

Our country has an ancient patriotic poet named Qu Yuan, he was exiled by the calumny, the inability to save the peril of the country, excessive anger, so Jiang himself voted to Health martyred. It is for him not to eat the bodies of fish and shrimp, one after another to the various pancake into the river, the water used to feed animals, and some ship off the water at the water beast. This has become now the Dragon Boat Festival, eating dumplings, fried cake, the origin of the dragon-boat race.

Grandmother pinch a different type of pancake, has florets, small, small starfish, is really different form. hurry to go shopping Kok, calmly took my father to buy tzu. A long row of teams, like a long queue, we managed to buy a tzu. We can see that every household have attached great importance to this holiday, people in this way to express their thoughts and reverence Yuan.

I want to love the motherland, study hard, make a useful country people, such as Qu Yuan, as before, by the people‘s respect and affection.

At the end of the Zhou Dynasty, the area we now know as China had fallen into a state of fragmentation and conflict. While the Zhou dynasty had ruled for several centuries, several other states, originally feudal domains, tried to carve out their own kingdoms. The state of Qin would eventually emerge the victor and unify all of China under one rule for the first time in history.

Qu Yuan served as minister to the Zhou Emperor. A wise and articulate man, he was loved by the common people. He did much to fight against the rampant corruption that plagued the court-- thereby earning the envy and fear of other officials. Therefore, when he urged the emperor to avoid conflict with the Qin Kingdom, the officials pressured the Emperor to have him removed from service. In exile, he traveled, taught and wrote for several years. Hearing that the Zhou had been defeated by the Qin, he fell into despair and threw himself into the Milou River. His last poem reads:

Many a heavy sigh I have in my despair,Grieving that I was born in such an unlucky time.I yoked a team of jade dragons to a phoenix chariot,And waited for the wind to come,to sour up on my journey.

As he was so loved by the people, fishermen rushed out in long boats, beating drums to scare the fish away, and throwing zong zi into the water to feed braver fish so that they would not eat Qu Yuans body.

The Modern Dragon Boat Festival started from that time to this day, people commemorated Qu Yuan through Dragon Boat Races, eating zong zi, and several other activities, on the anniversary of his death: the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

Dragon Boat races are the most exciting part of the festival, drawing crowds of spectators. Dragon Boats are generally brightly painted and decorated canoes. Ranging anywhere from 40 to 100 feet in length, their heads are shaped like open-mouthed dragons, while the sterns end with a scaly tail. Depending on the length, up to 80 rowers can power the boat. A drummer and flag-catcher stand at the front of the boat. Before a dragon boat enters competition, it must be "brought to life" by painting the eyes in a sacred ceremony. Races can have any number of boats competing, with the winner being the first team to grab a flag at the end of the course. Annual races take place all over China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other overseas Chinese communities.

Chinese traditional festivals are rich and colorful, with a vibrant spring festival and a mid autumn festival full of autumn But I like Dragon Boat Festival best. There is also a touching story about Dragon Boat Festival!

During the Warring States period, in order to unify China, please send troops to the state of Chu to attack, but they cannot attack. So he pretended to send a letter of peace, and King Huai of Chu planned to sign it. This is Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet. He was a minister who stopped King Huai of Chu. He was accused by King Chu and other officials and was demoted to his hometown. On the fifth day of May, King Huai of Chu was killed by the state of Qin, and the state of Chu was destroyed. When Qu Yuan heard the news, he was full of mixed feelings. Finally, holding a stone, he jumped into the Chu River and committed suicide. This is the fifth day of may in the lunar calendar.

Later, Qu Yuan's patriotism moved the people. On the day when Qu Yuan threw himself into the river, they all went to the edge of the Chu River. In order not to let the fish and shrimps in the river eat Qu Yuan, they threw rice into the river and not let Qu Yuan hold a knife. On that day, they took a small boat to fight Qu Yuan's body. Later, the Dragon Boat Festival Customs of dragon boat racing, eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine and hanging wormwood appeared.

In traditional Chinese festivals, there are not only Dragon Boat Festival, but also many festivals worth exploring. Qu Yuan's patriotic spirit is worth learning.

Qu Yuan, a doctor of the state of Chu, has always loved the country, but his patriotic heart was unfairly treated by Zilan, Jinshang and others. On the fifth day of May 278 ad, Qu Yuan, with patriotism and indignation in mind, jumped into the Miluo River with a big stone in his arms Kill, Chu people are very sad, all rowing boats to save Qu Yuan, but a vast ocean, which has Qu Yuan's shadow, we fished in Miluo River for a long time, also did not find Qu Yuan's body, had to put the rice in the bamboo tube down, hope the fish in the water don't chew Qu Yuan's body. Since then, on the fifth day of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, local people rowed boats to scatter rice in bamboo tubes into the river. Later, people changed rice in bamboo tubes into zongzi.

Every Dragon Boat Festival, people make zongzi, buy zongzi and eat zongzi. The shape of zongzi is very special. It's neither square nor round. Zongzi wraps glutinous rice and dates with green zongzi leaves, and some people wrap meat The color and appearance are very good-looking, and the taste of zongzi is unique. It is not only a delicious food for relieving summer heat and appetizing, but also a nourishing good product with rich nutrition, so adults and children love it.

Whenever I eat zongzi, I think of Qu Yuan's patriotic spirit!

The fifth day of the fifth lunar month is our Dragon Boat Festival. Every year on this day, we will commemorate the great poet Qu Yuan in various ways and go for a high-altitude outing. Some people eat zongzi, some people use Artemisia to boil eggs, others eat "five yellow", some people race dragon boats, hoping for health and safety, no disease.

I got up early in the morning and went to the park for a walk with my mother. Wow, there's a lot of buzz when we're a long way from the park. The colorful ball is flying and very lively. Each pedestrian has colorful gourds, various hydrogen balloons and blow molding toys, as well as bright and beautiful handbags I didn't have a spare hand either. After walking for a while, I picked up a pair of red gourds, a bunch of colorful bells, and a pair of golden auspicious fish bags. Looking at the glistening dew in the grass, I can't help grabbing a handful like other people, patting it gently on my face, arms and exposed legs. It's very refreshing and comfortable, 'breathing the fresh air, watching the tourists play, my heart is also very happy.

When I got home, Grandma had cooked zongzi and eggs. I was eating zongzi and listening to Qu Yuan's story. I was also moved by Qu Yuan's spirit of not giving in to the powerful.

Dragon Boat Festival is really a meaningful and happy festival. I like Dragon Boat Festival.

The Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. There are many programs, such as dragon boat racing, calamus hanging, realgar wine drinking and zongzi eating.

This year's Dragon Boat Festival is coming. My mother cooked delicious zongzi for me. Zongzi has various shapes, including triangle, square and diamond, which are divided by shape. According to the filling, there are meat dumplings, bean dumplings, and date dumplings.

Speaking of zongzi, there is also a passionate story. Qu Yuan, a legendary poet, loved the state of Chu very much. When the state of Chu was destroyed by the state of Qin, he was devastated and threw himself into the river to commit suicide. When the people knew it, they rowed boats to salvage Qu Yuan's body in the river. They were afraid that the fish would eat his body, so they wrapped up zongzi and threw it into the river to avoid the fish's injury.

"Look at the dragon boat race, look at the Dragon Boat Race!" cried the child, I happily squeezed to the river. Dragon boats are colorful and lifelike. In the sun, the dragon boat was glistening with silver scales. Each dragon boat is like a dragon lying on the river waiting for orders. "Bang!" at one command, the dragon boat's athletes strive to swing the oars, in order. "Dragon" flies to the end. Along the Bank of the river, there were continuous applause, oars, shouts, cheers, bugles, gongs and drums, forming a lively and exciting symphony.

Dragon Boat Festival is very lively and exciting. I like it.

Dragon Boat Festival is coming. Every family is busy making zongzi. Of course, my grandma is no exception.

Today, when I came home from school, I saw grandma preparing the materials for making zongzi. Grandma first put the glutinous rice prepared earlier in a big basin, and then put the meat, peanuts, red beans Put it on some other small plates. Grandma picked up zongzi leaves and spoons and began to make zongzi!

Grandma picked up a piece of Zongye and rolled it into a trumpet shape. Then she put two spoonfuls of glutinous rice in it. Then she pressed down the raised Zongye and grasped it. Then she took scissors to cut off the surplus part and tied it with hemp rope and put it into the plate. In this way, a small and exquisite zongzi was born!

Finally, grandma tied them all together, just like children in green clothes sitting together.

Finally, tired for a long time grandma is going to sit on the sofa to rest, she just saw me, surprised and said: "Xinxin, you don't hurry to do your homework, it's half past five!"

I am in the process of observation. I have just come back to my senses...

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon of the lunar calendar. It is one of the most important Chinese festivals, the other two being the Autumn Moon Festival and Chinese New Year.

Unable to regain the respect of the emperor, in his sorrow Chu Yuan threw himself into the Mi Low river. Because of their admiration for Chu Yuan, the local people living adjacent to the Mi Lo River rushed into their boats to search for him while throwing rice into the waters to appease the river dragons.
