Recently we have had a heated discussion on whether people should keep pets at home in cities.
Some classmates agreed with the opinion of keeping pets at home in cities because different kinds of pets puts more excitement into our lives.Not only can people live in harmony with animals, but also pets are great comfort to many lonely elderly people.
Others opposed to this view because keeping pets at home in cities will cause city environment pollution and make noisy even to hurt people which will cause public panic and anxious.
In my humble opinion,animals are peoples` best friends.They bring a lot of happiness to people,staying every day with your family.But people are ought to manage their pets to prevent emergencies and government should bring in new laws to help citizen to manage their pets well.

Recently, three owls appeared suddenly on our campus. They made me think of my pet from childhood. When I was little, we had an owl at home. It was small, gray, and had two big eyes. We liked it very much. Every time I went home, it greeted me by making “goo-goo” sounds. We always played with it and talked to it. It would blink its eyes just like it understood what we were saying. It was like my best friend. But when the weather became colder, we forgot to keep it warm , and it died. When we have something uahappy and don't want to tell anyone else,we can always talk with our pets,though perhaps they don't understand at all.But if we do so ,we will fell much better,especially when we're alone.When adults are busy and have no time to look after their parents.
A pet will always a best present to the olds.But,keeping a pet will also bring us quite a lot trouble.
For example,most pets are very dirty and they have a lot of diseases with them which will make us ill.
Sometimes a dog will bite someone who may just want to touch it to express his friendship.In this way pets will also make people unhappy!

Some people believe that keeping pets is a good thing to do.They believe that pets,like cats and dogs,can help reduce the loneliness in their daily life .They also argue that keeping pets helps mankind understand animals' world and develop positive feelings toward them.
Others,however,hold the opposite view.They think keeping pets as a useless but harmful thing to do.First,pets can transmit diseases.Secondly,the noises of pets are sources of pollution.Last but not least,as many rare birds and animals are kept as pets,they will surely be hunted on a large scale,which means a threat to the balance of the ecosystem.
Weighing the arguments of both sides,I am inclined to agree with the latter.Anyway,we can lessen our loneliness and express our love toward animals in other ways.And it is my belief that only by placing man and other species on an equal basis can we expect to have a lively and colorful world.
