　　過(guò)年前要做什么？

　　Rule number one. No medicine on the first day of the lunar New Year, because it is believed that if you take any medicine on the first day of the year, you will be ill all year. That is no good.

　　第一條規(guī)矩。農(nóng)歷大年初一不能吃藥，據(jù)說(shuō)如果你在初一吃了藥，你全年身體都會(huì)不好。這可不妙。

　　Rule two, no porridge.  It is a peasant food and you will be eating poor food and be poor all year if you eat porridge on the first day of the year.

　　第二條，不能喝粥。粥是鄉(xiāng)下人吃的東西，吃了窮人的東西你就會(huì)變窮，新年第一天喝了粥，一年都會(huì)窮。

　　新年常考單詞

　　1、農(nóng)歷：這個(gè)詞對(duì)現(xiàn)在的孩子們來(lái)說(shuō)已經(jīng)比較陌生了，他們現(xiàn)在過(guò)生日一般都是公歷生日。隨著中國(guó)城市化的逐步加快，農(nóng)歷的意思好像不太好理解了。英語(yǔ)中農(nóng)歷叫做“l(fā)unar calendar”，其中“l(fā)unar”表示“月亮的”，更能揭示農(nóng)歷的由來(lái)，也就是“取月相的變化周期為月的長(zhǎng)度”的歷法。

　　2、祭灶和掃房：農(nóng)歷的臘月二十三或者二十四被稱為小年，這一天人們會(huì)祭灶和掃房。祭灶的英文表達(dá)是“offer sacrifices to Kitchen God”，很多孩子不知道什么是祭灶，來(lái)看看英文的翻譯吧，多么直白，“祭”就是“offer sacrifices（祭祀）”、“灶”就是“Kitchen God（灶王）”；掃房是“spring cleaning”，為了跟普通的打掃房間區(qū)分，專門加上了“spring”。

　　掃房是為了去除晦氣，英語(yǔ)中叫做“get rid of the ill-fortune”。

　　3、辦年貨：辦年貨其實(shí)就是購(gòu)物，我們知道購(gòu)物是do some shopping，所以辦年貨就順其自然地成為了“do Spring Festival shopping”。

　　4、貼春聯(lián)：先來(lái)看看對(duì)聯(lián)的英文吧，couplet，這個(gè)詞很有意思�？梢哉J(rèn)為它是“couple加上后綴-let”組成的，其中“couple”是夫妻或一對(duì)，“-let”后綴表示“小”，直接組合后可以看作是“小小的對(duì)子，小夫妻”，想想對(duì)聯(lián)確實(shí)都成對(duì)出現(xiàn)，有些小夫妻的趕腳呢：）貼春聯(lián)，就叫做paste spring couplets了，其中的paste還表示“漿糊”的意思，把貼春聯(lián)用的粘合劑都說(shuō)出來(lái)了，真是神級(jí)表達(dá)��！

　　5、燃爆竹：爆竹的英語(yǔ)是“firecracker”，這個(gè)單詞挺有講究的。先看crack，它能表示“爆裂”的意思，cracker就是“爆裂的東西”了，爆竹需要用火點(diǎn)燃，就成了“firecracker”了。燃爆竹就是light the firecrackers。

　　6、守歲：守歲是在除夕夜熬夜迎接新年的到來(lái)。除夕夜的英語(yǔ)是“New Year's Eve”，哈哈，這個(gè)有些直接模范“Christmas Eve（圣誕前夜）”。守夜就是“staying-up”，哎，翻譯成英文后馬上感覺(jué)low了很多，文化底蘊(yùn)都少了，誰(shuí)讓咱們有五千年的文明呢：）

　　7、拜年：大年初一終于來(lái)了，我們會(huì)給親戚朋友拜年，送上新年祝福。拜年是“pay New Year's call”；同時(shí)，我們還會(huì)送上新年祝福，比如“I wish you prosperity（恭喜發(fā)財(cái)）”、“May all your wishes come true（心想事成）”、“Everything goes well（吉祥如意）”等等。當(dāng)然了，如果是小孩子的話，還可以拿到紅包“red packet”，里面有相當(dāng)豐厚的壓歲錢“l(fā)ucky money”哦！

　　The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. It is on January 1st according to the Chinese lunar calendar(中國(guó)的農(nóng)歷). It’s China’s New Year’s Day. So usually a month before the festival people begin to buy food clothes and decorations(裝飾) for houses.

　　About a week before the festival housewives are busy preparing the new year dinner. And they will do a lot of washing and cleaning in the houses. People who are far away on business are hurrying to return home for the new year’s family reunion（團(tuán)聚）.

　　On New Year Eve each family will gather tighter eating talking and watching TV for almost the whole night. And there will be some interesting programmes on TV. The children are the happiest of all because they can get presents from parents or grandparents.

　　On Lunar New Year’s Day after getting up people will eat dumplings. When they meet their neighbours or friends they’ll say: “Happy New Year!”
